Day 01 : Arrival at Kochi ![]() On your arrival at Kochi international airport you will be warmly received by our executives and transferred to your comforting hotel room on the first day of your Kerala backwater tours. Relax as the rest of the day will be all yours. We will start our Kerala backwaters tour with the sightseeing of the beautiful Kumarakom the next day. Day 02 : Cochin – Kumarakom / 75 km – 02 Hrs drive Kumarakom: We will proceed for one of the finest backwater destinations in Kerala on the second day of our Kerala backwaters tour. The Kerala backwater tours would cover a group of islands located approximately 16 km west of Kottayam on the banks of the picturesque Vembanad Lake. Kumarakom bird sanctuary: Visit the famous bird sanctuary sprawling 14 acres of land full of rubber plantations. Some of the bird species that you can spot here are Indian Shag, Purple herons, pond herons and local waterfowl. Watching these birds and the chirping sound is an unforgettable experience for tourists. Day 03 : Kumarakom – houseboat cruise (Kumarakom to Alleppey) Today you would relish in the famed houseboats of Kumarakom. Joyrides in the houseboats would be the most exciting part of Kerala backwater tours. Relax and have leisure time in the comfort of your private houseboat. Move through the backwaters and see the locals catching fish and doing other daily activities. Simply enjoy the backwaters beauty. The crew of the houseboat would prepare delicious vegetarian and non-vegetarian food depending on your choice. The rich coconut based food made with traditional spices will add extra zing to your delicacies. Snacks would be provided in the evening. Your overnight stay will be on board the houseboat in the serene Kerala backwaters. Day 04 : Alleppey – Alleppey (Houseboat cruise) Today while cruising, you will pass through the beautiful canals, lagoons, can visit a couple of churches and can watch the day to day life of local people. You can do a village tour also. There are houseboats or Kettuvallams (traditional name) that are made of jack wood planks. Coir ropes are used in tying them and coated with black resins made product which is produced by boiling cashew nut shells. These strangely made boats host cottages for tourists for relaxing and enjoying a unique experience on the backwaters. Enjoy this leg of Kerala backwater tours to the maximum. You can watch a new kind of farming called Kuttanadu here. In this method, crops are cultivated below the sea level. You can also ask the crew on the boat to help you out in trying your hands at fishing. Day 05 : Alleppey – Cochin / 65 km – 02 Hrs Drive ![]() After breakfast disembark the houseboat and drive to the ancient trading town of Kochi. It presents and amalgamation of the old and the new eras. It is believed that voyagers of olden times coveted sandalwood, perfumes and ivory that are found in plenty here. St. Francis church: Visit India’s first European church built by a Portuguese in 1503. It is famous for its great architectural style. Parades (Jewish) Synagogue: Your next destination would be Parades (Jewish) Synagogue which was built in the year 1568 but destructed by Portuguese cannon fire in 1662 during a raid. It houses descriptions from the Old Testament and has some exquisite paintings. (it is closed on Fridays, Saturdays and on Jewish holidays). Mattancherry (Dutch) Palace: Visit the Mattancherry Palace, also known as Dutch Palace which was originally built by the Portuguese but taken over later by the Dutch. You would also see magnificent carved wooden furniture and works, jewelries, bronze containers, crockery and brass containers belonging to the bygone era here. (it is closed on FRIDAYS) Day 06 : Kochi - Departure This will be the last day of your Kerala backwaters tour and we will move you to the Kochi International Airport from where you will board in the flight for your way back home.
